What are Crow's Feet?

Crow’s feet are the little lines that form around the corners of your eyes when you make different facial expressions. Oftentimes, the lines are most pronounced when you smile. (Another common name for them is “smile lines.”) For some people, these lines are only present while making certain expressions; while for others, the lines remain even when the face is neutral.

What Causes Crow's Feet?

Crow’s feet, like many other types of wrinkles, are caused by repetitive facial expressions – in this case, smiling. When we age, our skin’s ability to bounce back reduces, and lines and wrinkles that were once only present during movement now remain even when the face is at neutral. Due to the delicate, fragile nature of the skin around the eyes, this is also often the first area that people notice the aging process occurring.
