Fraxel® At A Glance
Fraxel® laser treatments work by targeting damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate the skin and trigger collagen production. Old skin cells die away during the process and new skin growth begins. Once the old layer of skin is shed, you are left with a fresh, youthful new you. Fraxel laser only treats a fraction of the skin at a time, the areas surrounding the dots remain untouched. This technique allows the skin to heal faster than it would if the entire area were treated, providing great results.
Common side effects include redness, swelling, and itching at the treatment site. These side effects depend on the intensity of the treatment and resolve as the area heals. Acne can also develop from the rapid skin turnover.
Prior to performing the Fraxel® treatment, your provider will apply a topical anesthetic gel to numb the treatment area. Clients report a mild pins-and-needles sensation as the Fraxel® laser goes over the same area a few times to maximum results.
